Satan’s Clever Entrapment

by JoAnn on Mar.04, 2010, under Reflections

When I first watched “Alma”, a prize-winning animation by Rodrigo Blaas, I thought it was way too creepy to share. But days later, after thinking about it and watching it again, I realized it sends a chilling message about Satan’s clever entrapment. (continue reading…)

The Writing on the Wall

by JoAnn on Mar.03, 2010, under Signs and Wonders

Rembrandt-BelsazarDaniel 5 tells the story of Babylonian King Belshazzar throwing a drunken party with 1,000 of his nobles. As they were drinking and praising their pagan idols, they suddenly saw the fingers of a human hand writing on the wall. The king himself saw the hand as it wrote, and his face turned pale with fright. His knees knocked together in fear and his legs gave way beneath him. (continue reading…)

Fix Your Eyes on Things Unseen

by JoAnn on Feb.05, 2010, under Did You Know?

“As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.” 2 Corinthians 6:1. It is better not to even have heard the Gospel, than for someone to hear and reject it. (continue reading…)

The Truth Will Set You Free

by JoAnn on Jan.16, 2010, under Did You Know?

Slavery to SinSome people with whom I have spoken lately state that they have decided not to remain Christians because they want to be free, to be in control of their own lives with no restrictions. They want to do what they want when they want without the restrictions of God’s rules. Often, all they mean to say is they want the freedom to sin. They do not realize they are indeed slaves. They are slaves to sin and the devil, trapped by their own evil desires. Because the basis for God’s laws are actually for our own well-being, to ignore them usually brings consequences leading to punishment and/or misery. These people are yearning for freedom, yet have become trapped in a prison of their own making, finding that the world’s “freedom” is actually freedom to become miserable. (continue reading…)

Endless Mercy and Grace

by JoAnn on Jan.07, 2010, under Reflections

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12

When we earnestly repent of our sin, the total forgiveness we receive from God through our Lord Jesus Christ is astonishing! Our sins are blotted out, never to be remembered by God. Though we are dirty and stained, the blood of Jesus washes us white as snow! We are able to approach the throne of grace boldly to obtain His mercy. This means we have been set free to live our lives for Jesus!

“I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, And I will not remember your sins.” Isaiah 43:25

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19

“Come now and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” Isaiah 1:18

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

‘And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.”‘ John 8:11

The truth about sin

by JoAnn on Jan.02, 2010, under Reflections

“So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? Luke 6:46

Cross Crushing SinMany Christians today do not want to hear about sin or hell. Many go to church on Sunday and then go home to live exactly as they see fit. Each generation has become more permissive until slowly, without even realizing it, we no longer recognize sin. A popular view of God has emerged that paints Him as so kind and loving that He will not condemn anyone. But is this the truth as presented by the Bible? (continue reading…)
