Jesus
by JoAnn on Dec.17, 2009, under Christmas, Did You Know?, Reflections
Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He worked in a carpenter shop until he was thirty, and then for three years he was an itinerant teacher.
He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never owned a home. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never travelled, except in his infancy, more than two hundred miles from the place where he was born. He never did one of the things that usually accompanies greatness. He had no credentials but himself. (continue reading…)
Asleep in the Light

A Song by Keith Green
Do you see, do you see; All the people sinking down
Don’t you care, don’t you care; Are you gonna let them drown
How can you be so numb; Not to care if they come
You close your eyes; And pretend the job’s done
“Oh bless me Lord, bless me Lord”; You know it’s all I ever hear
No one aches, no one hurts; No one even sheds one tear
But He cries, He weeps, He bleeds; And He cares for your needs
And you just lay back; And keep soaking it in,
Oh, can’t you see it’s such a sin? (continue reading…)
When I Say I Am a Christian
by JoAnn on Dec.13, 2009, under Reflections
A Poem by Carol Wimmer

When I say…” I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting “I am saved”
I’m whispering “I get lost”
“That is why I chose this way”.
When I say…”I am a Christian”
I don’t speak of this with pride
I’m confessing that I stumble
and need someone to be my guide.
When I say…”I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong
I’m professing that I’m weak
and pray for strength to carry on.
When I say…”I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success
I’m admitting I have failed
and cannot ever pay the debt.
When I say…”I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect,
my flaws are all too visible
but God believes I’m worth it.
When I say…”I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I seek His name.
When I say…”I am a Christian”
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority
I only know I’m loved.

Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand. (continue reading…)
Christmas – It’s Not Just About the Manger
by JoAnn on Nov.28, 2009, under Christmas
It’s not just about the manger
Where the baby lay
It’s not all about the angels
Who sang for him that day
It’s not just about the shepherds
Or the bright and shining star
It’s not all about the wisemen
Who travelled from afar (continue reading…)
It’s Called Christmas With a Capital “C”
by JoAnn on Nov.27, 2009, under Christmas
Here’s a light-hearted look at the politically correct and popular greeting “Happy Holidays” which has taken it’s toll on the old-fashioned “Merry Christmas”. (continue reading…)
