by JoAnn on Mar.03, 2010, under Signs and Wonders
Daniel 5 tells the story of Babylonian King Belshazzar throwing a drunken party with 1,000 of his nobles. As they were drinking and praising their pagan idols, they suddenly saw the fingers of a human hand writing on the wall. The king himself saw the hand as it wrote, and his face turned pale with fright. His knees knocked together in fear and his legs gave way beneath him. (continue reading…)

He Will Strike Your Head
by JoAnn on Oct.07, 2009, under Did You Know?
God reveals His plan of sending Jesus into the world for the redemption of all mankind at the very beginning of the Bible.
Genesis 3:14-15: Then the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” (continue reading…)
Set Your Sights on God
by JoAnn on Oct.06, 2009, under Reflections
King Solomon’s wisdom and riches are legendary. Even Jesus refers to Solomon’s riches when he states in Luke 12:27: “Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.” And yet, when God asked Solomon the one gift he would like, Solomon chose wisdom, not riches! If we go after what we want, we will continue to be dissatisfied. But if we set our sights on God He will give us our heart’s desires.
The Weeping Prophet
by JoAnn on Oct.06, 2009, under Did You Know?
Jeremiah was so filled with sorrow at the spiritual condition of the people of Judah that he is called the “Weeping Prophet”. He was not successful by the world’s standards, as he was poor and rejected by many. But by God’s standards he was a great success! He was obediant and faithful no matter what the personal cost!
After the terrible destruction of Jerusalem, he wrote these words of hope:
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:22-23.
And again, in 31-33:
“For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love. For he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.”
