A Man of Sorrows

by JoAnn on Feb.08, 2010, under Bible verses, Easter

‘He was despised and rejected—
a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.

Yet it was our weaknesses He carried;
it was our sorrows that weighed Him down.
And we thought His troubles were a punishment from God,
a punishment for His own sins!
But He was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.

He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on Him
the sins of us all.’

Isaiah 53:3-6

With His stripes we are healed

The Auschwitz Album

by JoAnn on Feb.08, 2010, under Did You Know?

The stunning Auschwitz Album memorializes the arrival of Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz in May of 1944. It is the only one of its kind, and it is solely due to this album that we have a visual history of what occurred in the Auschwitz-Birchenau death camp. The album was discovered after the war by an Auschwitz survivor, Lily Jacob, who donated it to Yad Vashem in 1980.

‘Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”’ Genesis 12:1-3

Eternal Destinies Are At Stake

by JoAnn on Feb.07, 2010, under Evangelism

‘And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”’ Mark 16:15

It is not politically correct anymore to spread the Gospel. The popular belief that all spiritual paths lead to God has grown and to say that Jesus is the only way is seen as intolerant even hateful. Yet, accepting these popular notions of the world is the same as denying Christ. All around us are those headed for a Christless eternity. Many are lost and hopeless and do not know the only answer lies in Jesus Christ.

Seek the Lost‘But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?’ Romans 10:14

‘For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.’ 1 Corinthians 3:9

‘Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.’ 2 Corinthians 5:20

A Wonderful Secret

by JoAnn on Feb.05, 2010, under Bible verses

‘Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:51-52

Put on God’s Armor

by JoAnn on Feb.05, 2010, under Bible verses

‘For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.’ 2 Corinthians 10:4-6

2 Corinthians 10-4

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:10-18
