| The Harvest is Ripe, but the Workers are Few! Hell is not an imaginary place. It is real. In Luke 16:19-31 we read about a rich man who had everything he needed on this earth, but was callous toward his fellow man. We actually learn much about hell from this passage: In hell you can see. Verse 23: "..he lifted up his eyes..." In hell you have physical discomfort. The rich man in hell is so thirsty he says in Verse 24 "...I am in anguish" In hell your mind functions. Abraham tells the rich man in hell in Verse 25 "...Son, remember that you in your lifetime..." In hell you have a voice. Verse 24 "And he called out 'Father Abraham...'" In hell you are even aware of people in Heaven with God, but you cannot ever reach them. Verse 26 "...a great chasm has been fixed..." You might expect people in hell would be very angry and resentful and would wish everyone would come and join them in their agony. But no, this passage lets us know that this is a fate that one would not wish on anyone. The rich man begs Abraham to go warn his brothers. Consider for a moment your friends, neighbors, relatives and colleagues who do not know Jesus. Could you ever in your wildest dreams wish a fate like this would befall them for eternity? Yet, many of us do not tell them. We keep the Good News of Jesus' salvation as our private, wonderful secret. We hide our light and do not let it shine except in Church or while we are with other believers. If you had a cure for cancer, would you keep it to yourself and watch beloved people around you die of it? Until we develop a deep and desperate passion for reaching the lost, have we really taken up our cross to follow Him? Many of the churches in America are asleep. They are holding their services, having their meetings and potlucks, but many are not involved in spreading the Good News of the Gospel in their communities. Take a look around you in America today. There are many people lost, hopeless, desperate, many heading toward a Christless eternity. Moral decay is rampant, the economy is on the decline, drug and other addictions abound, and on and on...... We need to change men's hearts! We need to shake America for Christ! After all, if we don't tell them, their blood is on our hands. Tommie Zito Ministries is one group to keep an eye on. Tommie Zito's passion for the lost is unmatched and TZM is traveling the USA shaking one city at a time for Christ. Visit Tommiezito.com to learn about this exciting ministry. |
